Hey all,

I am having a problem installing and syncing the Business Contacts with my
Pocket PC. My Pocket PC is a an HP iPAQ rx1950 running Microsoft Windows
Mobile OS Verizon 5.1.1702. I have Microsoft Office 2003 Professional,
which includes Outlook 2003. The version of Outlook 2003 is 11.6568.6568
and I have applied SP2. I am running Microsoft's Windows XP Tablet PC
Edition OS with SP2.

Recently, I downloaded and installed the Business Contact Manager Update for
Outlook 2003
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...42-6DC5-4922-9DFB-1C82237D6B62&displaylang=en).
Additionally, I installed the Outlook 2003 with Business Contact Manager
Service Pack 1
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...9-46AC-4A27-B4C7-BE05723D53E5&displaylang=enI)
and had no problems with either installations and really enjoyed the
enhanced features that the Add-In provided. I wanted to be able to sync my
Accounts and Business Contacts located in the BCM feature in Outlook 2003
with my Pocket PC so I downloaded the Outlook 2003 with Business Contact
Manager Update Add-In: Business Contacts for Pocket PC
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...18-C310-4599-81D1-558CF385ED88&displaylang=en).

When I went to install the Pocket PC Add-In, titled "Business Contacts" on
my Pocket PC under the Add/Remove Programs found under the Tools menu inside
ActiveSync, I placed a check mark in the checkbox besides the "Business
Contacts" application to add it to the Pocket PC and clicked OK. The
instalation through ActiveSync appeared to have been executed flawlessly.
ActiveSync then prompted me to check the Pocket PC for any additional
proceedures that were needed to complete the installation. When I checked
my Pocket PC, I recieve an dialog box stating "Business Contacts does not
support the connected device type". After clicking OK on the dialog box, I
recieve the following message "Installation of Business Contacts.CAB was
unsuccessful". When I checked the Options selection under the Tools menue
in ActiveSync (Version 4.1.0), Business Contacts is displayed under the
Options tab for synchronization but it does not have a check box beside it
or allow for you to right click and adjust any settings. When I looked at my
Tasks on my Pocket PC, the tasks that were associated with the Business
Contacts in Outlook appeared/synced with my Pocket PC but were not
associated with any contacts as they were inside Outlook.

I was wondering if it is possible to sync Outlook's Business Contacts with a
Pocket PC running the Windows Mobile OS version 5. If so, any help would be
much appreciated. I have been researching this topic for a few days and I
haven't found anyone that has been able to figure the problem out.

Thanks in advance for any help provided,

J. B.

PS I apologize for the length of this post

J.B.,

Unfortunately, it's a wonderful little secret that BCM does not yet support
Windows Mobile 5.0. You can draw your own angry conclusions as to why this
is. Apparently someone doesn't think there is (or will be) enough of a
demand for this. I find that possibility hard to believe.

I think BCM is a division of the "if you've got time department" at MS. It
could be the best dang thing for Outlook but for some reason they've done
little to make it a functional part of Exchange or WM5. So near and yet so
far...
