Need help recovering data from WinXP

I presently have a hard disk was in a winXP computer. (eMachineT1120)
It decided to stop working one day. Would not boot.

I was able to boot from floppy disks and start the recovery console.
chkdsk /r and fixboot did not work. I was able though to see the c:
drive and all of the files. I could not go into documents and settings
though. "access denied".

.... So close yet so far......

I now want to get access to the data on the disk in the documents and
settings folder.

I installed the disk as secondary drive. Still could not see the
files.

Help!!

Try booting the distribution CD and selecting the repair option.

With just the original drive in the system.
