There is no cd rom drive in my computer>manage>disk
management. It is like if the drive does not exist for
windows.
I have already tried this drive on another computer and
it works fine. I have tried another drive in this
computer and it has the same problem.
On device management>properties I found this
error: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this
hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code
39)".
This driver has been working fine so far (until last
week). I have already looked for a new driver from the
manufacture, but there isn't. The driver is installed
with windows XP.

It works physically (I can open and close it).
I did already uninstall and reinstall.

any help is most wellcome

This is one of the most Common problems:

Try this:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/scripts_desc/xp_cd_dvd_fix.htm
When open, go to Restore CD/DVD Drives to Explorer.
Download and install it. It worked for me. Let me know if
this took care of it.
