need help on newbie setting up windows 2000 server

Hello,
i have general knowledge of how windows 2000 work and this is
first time actual setting one up from fresh with domain control. Here the
issue that i'm having, when the configure server wizard prompt and walk me
thru the set up. This is the only server that in the network, so i selected
the only server in my network options. next lead me to the screen that lets
me name my domian and the public domain option, i do not have the public
domain so, i type in as Local as option. Then next, everything seems to
wizard take care of creating the componets need to set up a server. Here the
failed and errors massage getting is ( Active Directory installation failed,
errors stating me that network location can't be each) gave me options to
press OK.. If i press OK.. Wizard went back to the beginning and didn't
compete the install.
Please help and advice.
What am i doing it wrong?

Usually when an install fails on Active Directory; the problem is with your
DNS. Since this is the first server in your network, I would suggest
installing the DNS server before running your dcpromo.
