ECLiPSE 2002

I have Win XP SP3 and just installed WinPatrol Plus and received a
notice that the application uses Active X and a vulnerability exists
that could allow hacking.

It was recommended that I review the Microsoft bulletin MS05-013. This
bulletin MS05-013: is about the vulnerability in the DHTML Editing
Component ActiveX Control Could Allow Remote Code Execution (891781).

Microsoft recommends installing the vunerability patch
Q87333_xpe_sp3_x86_enu.exe

I went to the Microsoft download site and downloaded
Q87333_xpe_sp3_x86_enu.exe; during install a window popup says
...."extracting the file to directory but then I get an unable to
complete setup ..."Cannot connect to the database. Please check the
database"

Anyone know what this means and why this is happening. I have Sp1,2
and 3 installed so that should not be a factor.

TIA,

Mary.

Your download is corrupt

and more than likely you have other vulnerabilities

Why not go to the Windows update site and apply all critical updates

sp3 alone is not enough

Your download is corrupt

Thanks for the response Philo
Went back and reDL'd KB891781 and this time when I clicked on install
I got a pop up that said you have SP3 installed - this hot fix is not
needed.

Guess I'll leave well enough alone as I show that all critical updates
have been installed.

Then as long as you have an updated virus checker
you should be all set
