Hi Guys,

This is my first post on this forum and i need help to disassemble my Toshiba Satellite A-60 notebook.I have tried it once but the whole thing does not come out easily and i was wondering if anyone can help me with this.I have checked the manual as well as Toshiba website but nothing useful is there.
Any help will be highly appreciated.

Is there a problem that you have to correct? Why do you want to disassemble it? On the site User Manuals are available to download but I doubt that Service manuals are downloadable. That is needed for disassembly, in any case someone with no knowledge should not be doing it. It would be better if you go to the Toshiba service center and get the fault rectified if any.

Overheating resulting in system shutdown!

Hi Quadophile,

My laptop is overheating and it is resulting in shutdown.I am sure its because of the dust choking the heta sync.I have not done it before, but is it possible to do it with a manual or some other way that you can suggest?

Get your hoover, put some tights over the hoover nozzel, turn to max power and see if you can get the dust from around the fan hole to get rid of dust & crap:thumb:

If you say your system is heating up, there is a way to deal with that. If you are prepared to go through the procedure you will I am sure get the desired results. I am providing a link to a software which can bring down the system temperature as well as prolong the battery life. You must take all precautions when using the software as mistakes can be costly.

As for the dust I assume you are mostly using the laptop in a non airconditioned environment and in India the ambient temperatures unlike in UK are higher resulting in system overheating and shutting down.

Anyway dissaembling the unit can cause damage if you are not careful so the software can be used to good effect first and if it does not solve your problem you are probably better off going to an Authorised dealer of Toshiba rather than experimenting on it yourself, especially if you have no prior experience.

Here is the link to the software, good luck!:thumb:

Notebook Hardware Control

There is a Beginners Guide as well as an FAQ available at the site which I strongly suggest you go through before you start to use the program.

Javi,

Please go through this link which is a thread on this very site discussing heat related issues with laptops. I hope you find it useful :)

Thanks Quadophile!!

Thanks for the link as well as the notebook harware control software.I am going through the the NHC site at the moment and i will also go through the link which u just sent me.Hopefully it will resolve this heating thng or else i will have to go for a disassemble theory.

Javi,

I really hope things work out for you. Do keep us posted as your feedback can be very helpful to others looking for solutions to similar problem.

If you need further assistance, just ask ;)

What about Restore

HI Quadophile,

Just got .Net framework 2.0 and also NHC installed on my system. All set to start using NHC ,but i would like to know if during the tweaking something goes wrong do i have an option of restoring my system in such case.

When you use the program go one step at a time, do not push your system to its limits. I was careful with the tweak and spread it over few days just making sure it was stable. The program itself when installed will not automatically tweak the settings, its when you instruct it will it change the settings. Besides, it will also test the stability to see if stability is an issue and revert back to previous settings.

You can manually create a restore point before you start to use the program just incase.

Notebook Harware Controller - Results

Hi Quad,

As suggested by you iu have started using the NHC 1.10 Beta3 and by the way tihngs dont look good.I have attached the results shown by NHC as a word document after taking snapshots of all the sections. But before this i read the article of "Configuring Windows " by techy and has made serious improvement in the performance of my system. The process count which was 34 before has come down to 27.Also i have increased the page file size.

Now as u can see the results in attached file i will give the specs of my old machine:
Toshiba Satellite A-60
MS Windows XP SP2, Intel Celeron D 2.66 Ghz,320 MB RAM,ATI Radeon 7000 IGP.
Observations:

1.) In status section, the maximum temperature has been 64 centigrades and that of HD was 44 centigrades. Also it cannot show the CPU speed.

2.)In CPU speed control section, apart from CPU speed settings and selection of power scheme other options are disabled.

3.)Nothing could be done in CPU voltage control section as the whole section is disabled.

4.)In Battery section, the whole section is blank.

So as you see i was not bale to do much with NHC and also i have added the rest of the sections in it.

I dont even know if the temperature shown is correct, coz the air coming out is literally hot.

Any suggestions

I was unable to open any file as it gives an error.

As far as the information you posted you have not been able to tweak the settings therefore the results could not be obtained. In this situation the software is not doing its job.
