Hi All! I hope that you folks can help me out a bit. I have an ECS
notebook that I'm working on for a client, and I'm trying to find and
replace the CMOS battery. I was wondering whether anyone has a
disassembly manual or diagram for this, or previous experience? This
thing is built like a tank with aluminum frame all the way around, and
the plastic exterior doesn't come off in the standard config. ECS
website has replacement manual for CPU/RAM/DVD but nothing this in
depth. Any help would be most appreciated! TIA!

I actually have one of these under the Winbook name but I don't have any
clues about disassembling it. This mentions that the CMOS battery is
located on the top side of the MB and requires total disassembly to get
to it but they don't give any indication of how this disassembly takes
place: http://www.orphanlaptops.com/j4.htm

I've no specifics but would start by trying to take the
keyboard out.

Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately, this only exposes the ram and
miniPCI (or similar) access ports, along with a shield over the PCMCIA
slot. The rest of the surface under the kbd is solid aluminum frame.
This thing comes apart like no laptop I've ever worked with.

Thanks John! I took a look at that site, and am somewhat disheartened.
This thing's an ugly beast from a maintenance standpoint.
