I would suggest calling Microsoft if you got the licensed
copy and your two free support calls. This may also fall
under the unlimited free install category. If you can't
then here is what I can tell you. Doing the repair after
a dramatic change in hardware may or may not work
especially if they are really different chipsets. Some
people have done it with few to no errors and some people
have never been able to recover. I know this isn't what
you want to hear. I myself decided to start from scratch
only because i wanted to make sure my system will be 100%
stable.

Here is something you can try if all else fails it should
work, but it is alot of work thats why i said call
microsoft. I would put the old motherboard back into the
computer and start up windows XP in safe mode. Then
delete all the devices in the DEVICE MANAGER. This will
force your HAL to update next time windows boots. Now you
can put the new mobo in and windows xp will have no
drivers and need to install all new drivers. Now you will
be able to do the repair and get your computer up and
running. This should work in theory although I haven't
come accross anyone who has tried it. You should have
done the deleting all the devices in the device manager
in the first place because you may have now corrupted the
OS by doing the repair and getting the errors u did.

Now, I don't know all the errors your are getting and I
would have to research that info for you. You may want to
repost this if noone else helps you with those errors and
you want to knwo what they are. I hope this helps and
goodluck with it, I wish you the best. Call Microsoft
they know their OS.

Thanks Chris. I haven't corrupted the present OS because I made a ghost
copy prior to changing boards and doing the repair install. I think I
will try deleting the devices using safe mode and make a second ghost of
that version before working with the new board. Thanks again.

Let me know how it turns out. Like i said before in
theory this should work and I have complete confidence it
will. However, I haven't come accross anyone that has
done this so I am interested in finding out how it turns
out. Please make sure you email me and let me know.
