I am a sophisticated user using Remote Support to support a VERY
unsophisticated user (my mother). Using Remote Support, I can view and
control her new Thinkapd running XP and Outlook 2003. She also has a desktop
running Windows 98 and Outlook 97/98 which I cannot see. On her desktop, she
needs to export her Address Book (or Contact List, or whatever it's call in
Outlook 97) to a format that we can import into Outlook 2003. I have no
experience with Exchange or Outlook because my company uses a different
program. What option do I tell her to choose in the Outlook 97 Export wizard
so that we can import her contacts into Outlook 2003?

The username for my email address is jim.reynolds and the mail server is
@alumni.princeton.edu.

She can export her Contacts folder to a PST file for import back into
OL2003. Is she trying to move anything else?

Thanks for your quick reply - this will get us closer.

Regarding what else to export, it would be great if we could also move her
old emails. She did not use the calendar or to-do functions.

Can you please be specfic which option she should select when the Export
wizard launches so that we wind up with a *.pst file (or other format for
email messages)? She does not really understand file formats or extensions.
As I recall, they all had names and she read me a list like "MS Exchange,
Personal Address Book, Comma Separated Values," etc. I need to tell her the
words she will read in the list and tell her to click on them. If you have
Outlook 97, could you please launch it and see precisely how the option is
listed?

Thanks much!

The file type should be called something akin to "Personal Folder File"
