I just installed XP Pro, did an upgrade from 2K pro, and am unable to connect
to my dial-up ISP. My modem is there, on com port 3 (from 2K), but there is
no com port 3 in the device manager. Have tried to add com ports, but all I
get are 4 and up, that aren't configured correctly. When I try to go through
the connection wizard, I get as far as the page where you select what type of
connection you have (after I select I want to set it up manually), and the
options are all grayed out except for broadband DSL, which I do not have. I
have dial-up. Do I need to physically remove my modem, uninstall it, and try
again? I have not done that yet. Since I am writing this from school, I
probably will not see any answers until tomorrow, since I can not get on to
the internet from home. I really appreciate any help, since I'm getting
desperate. Thank you,
