hello,

i'm looking into buying a lindows box.

1) i could use some help selecting the right hardware
i want at least a 100gb hd
512mb ram (1gb is better) [upgradeable]
2.5gb cpu (or better)
good motherboard, video, sound, nic, modem etc. all working well
together and with lindows

i'm not looking for anything fancy (around $2000), as long as the system
will work right and last a few years. any solid advice is highly
appreciated

2) does anybody here have any experience with this os? does apache work
with lindows?

thank you. have a great day.

I'm not a Lindows user, but I do use SuSE Linux. I just wanted to know why
you had a need for a 100GB or larger HDD? I have tons of software installed
with my Linux distro including many redundant applications, several office
suites, and several window managers/GUI environments and I still take up
less than 6GB total space (all partitions) on a 27GB HDD.

i absolutely do not, under any circumstances, want to worry about not
having enough disk space. especially since i'm planning on creating a
very multimedia-rich website.

uhm...ok...maybe
who are you and what makes you qualified? are you a reseller? what's
the url of your site?
How about I build you a high quality computer with lindows for $1750? :)

$2,000 is nothing fancy??? :0
Dude...you can build close to top of the line for way cheaper then that.
Anyways though, this site: http://www.lfriendly.com/ is made by Lindows and
shows officially supported hardware. However, *a lot* more will work then
what is listed at that site. Whatever hardware you are considering buying,
just do a google search for it along with Linux (try Google Groups too) and
see if others have it working. If it works in other Linuxes without user
intervention, it should work with Lindows too (assuming you have a pretty
new version of Lindows).
