Hi everyone,

I had a lot of important emails saved into different folders in Microsoft
outlook. I was using window 98 second edition at the time. This pass week I
upgraded my system to windows xp and outlook express. I tried to save the
email folders onto a back up disk but couldn't find a way to do it. I saved
the entire Microsoft office folder email included onto a cd. After I had
windows xp and outlook express installed I tried to find my old emails. I
can't find the right folder which holds my emails. Do anyone know how I can
get my old email back???

Thanks for any of your help

1) Were you using Outlook or Outlook Express on your Windows 98 PC?
2) If you didn't back up your PST file (for Outlook) or your .dbx
files/folder (for OE), your data was not included in whatever you backed up.
3) How did you install XP - as an upgrade in place, or a new install?

(1) I was using Outlook.
(2) Not sure if the PST file or the .dbx was backed up. I saved the entire
Microsoft office folder.
(3) Do you know how I can find the PST or .dbx file or folder?
(4) The XP was a new install.

Thanks for your help

Dave

Neither OE or Outlook data files are stored in the program files folder
(which is a Good Thing).

Search your hard drive - include hidden/system folders
(4) The XP was a new install.

If you didn't back up your documents&settings folder (where both OE and
Outlook store files by default), the data is probably gone...
Thanks for your help
