Hiya,

I'm still having this problem...

My DSL provider gives me 2 static IPs

DSL is connected to a switch that connects to both computers

First computer has an IP: 64.180.141.249
Second computer has an IP: 207.6.124.238

The first computer is hosting websites on it (with domain names)

If I am on the first computer and enter a domain name of a site on that
server, I see the website
If I am on the second computer and enter a name name of a site on the first
server, I get a DNS error

I've tried asking my ISP and they're no real help... and networking isn't my
strong point. Anybody have any suggestions or reccomendations of places I
could look on the net for more information?

Because the IPs are so different from eachother is there anything I can do
to either network the computers or so that I can view the websites on the
first computer from the second?

Thanks!

Clint

.
Sounds like either your ISP doesn't have an entry for
the box, or your not configured to use the DNS. Does
other Internet traffic wok properly? Also, you could
create a Hosts file as a workaround.

.

Ask your ISP for their DNS address. Add that address to
the second machine. The reason the first machine can
access the domain name is because the website is local.
Try connecting to the domain from someone elses computer
on the internet. Also, if the domain name was recently
setup or changed you may have to wait several days for all
the DNS servers to sync.

Note: I was unable to ping both IP addresses.
