I'm thinking about building a system with a A8V motherboard and I wasn't
sure what the best harddrive setup I should get. Note, this system isn't
going to be a busy fileserver so I don't think I need the complexity of a
RAID setup (this is for home use, work, music production and some games).
However given the A8V does come with SATA RAID controllers I wondering if
this is best to use or whether the ATA controllers/drivers would be as good
or better deals. What's the sweet spot?

There isn't much (if any) of a speed difference between SATA and EIDE (for
now), so that's not necessarily a purchasing point.

SATA installations are simpler, neater and cleaner however. There is less
airflow blockage, though that's not as much of an issue as it's made out to
be (IMHO).

If I am going to buy a new drive, I would buy SATA as I would prefer buying
the upcomming, not the out-going, technology.
