Not sure if fonts would qualify as freeware or not, but
they are often free.

My PC has so few fonts installed, I need more. Where
should I go?

I like GRSites <http://www.grsites.com/fonts/>

Like so many "free" sites, it does have a LOT of adds. But there are
over 6,000 fonts available to browse so it is better than hose sites
that posts a dozen fonts and tons of fake links to make money.

Is there any such thing as font "bundles?"
I don't really have time to go through them
one by one and examine and download them.

There are quite a few true type fonts around, and you've been pointed
to some links where you can download more.

Although hardware has become faster, the more fonts you have, the
slower your PC takes to initialize. I have 86 installed, do a fair bit
of desktop publishing and word processing, but only use about a
maximum of 5 for each document.

The first thing to establish is the number of fonts you have
installed (including variations).
The limit is around 700–1000, although I would recommend having no
more than 250. For more detail on this, see I'd like to delete some
fonts, but I'm afraid I'll remove some that Word needs. What fonts
do I have to keep?

The right font can add character and polish to a document, but you
can have too much of a good
thing. A large number of installed fonts can significantly slow down
Windows, word processors,
and other programs that use fonts.
