I want to be able to create a graph that has 3 floating bars that each show
a range of data - like bar one is from 5-10, bar 2 is from 5-20, bar 3 is
from 10-20 - I want to be able to have the mean for that range marked in the
middle of that bar - then I want to overlay 3 data points on bar3 as a line
graph - so each bar represents a period of time (like 2 months) so for the
3rd bar I have 3 scores for that time period that I want to insert as a line
graph - to show that the scores are within the range or not within the bar
range...can i do this with the chart/graph feature in word/excel or not?

Hi,

Have a look here at how to do floating bars.
http://peltiertech.com/Excel/Charts/FloatingColumns.html

I could not visualize the lines on the chart from you description. But
you should be able to add extra data series to the chart and change
their chart type to line. If the lines are vertical you will need to use
an xyscatter chart.

Maybe read through you explanation again imagining you have not seen
this chart type before, does it make sense or is it just me :)

Cheers
Andy
