I need a copy of the index.dat file from Windows xp pro. Ity is in the PC
health folder in windows.
pchealth-helpctr-offline cache folder. Shoulb be about 85 kb in size. Need
it to make system information work. Please send a copy if you don't mind.
(e-mail address removed) Thank you for your help.

Go to Start>Search>Files and Folders
type in index.dat and click Search
You should find at least a half dozen index.dat files on your system.
Rightclick the one in PCHealth and click Copy and then navigate to your
C:\Windows\System32 directory or wherever you want it and Paste it there.

Sorry Byte you did not understand what I was saying. The file in pchealth is
not there. Ira a search on my hard drive and found no index.dat files on my
system at all. That is why I need a copy to put in my system. Thanks for your
help.

Right click on the drive properties in Explorer - turn off indexing, then
turn indexing back on.
