i have a workbook with multiple sheets all linked up via certain
cells. one sheet is my "DATA BASE".
on another sheet called "SELECTION", i add a bunch of drop down combo
boxes and set the input range and cell link...the input range is set
to read from the "DATA BASE" sheet and the cell link is set to output
a number to a specified cell.
all outputs from each combo box are sent to a sheet called "ARRAY",
because together the outputs form an array.
on yet another sheet called "SUMMARY", i set conditional
statements...mostly 'if' statements and nested 'if's. these ifs are
set to make a decision based on the resulting array of numbers in the
sheet called "ARRAY". i like using this method because the user's
selections produce unique arrays that can be used as distinct serial
numbers for a given item
my question is "do i need to start using access data base and macros?"
i don't want the user to see the code because it can be distracting.
i also don't want things being tampered with since several people will
be using the workbook. meanwhile, it would take a long time for me to
learn MS access and macros in order for me to be able to incorporate
them into my workbook.
my temporary solution is to break up my work book into several sheets
and protect my output sheets with a password. the user would only be
allowed to enter stuff into a few sheets that are not password
protected.
any help would be great.
thanks,
