Need DVD drive as E: Drive

I have a boot HD as Primary Master, and a data HD (with two
partitions) as Secondary Master. I have a DVD drive as Secondary
Slave. BIOS verifies this. Works fine.

Strangely (to me), XP explorer shows the boot HD as C drive, the DVD
drive as D drive, and the data HD as drives E and F.

But I have an application that insists that a data CD disk be in drive
E:. How can I set up my system or how can I alter XP so that the DVD
drive and the HD drive are switched (so that I can make the DVD drive
E drive)?

Please

Right click on My Computer and choose manage. Change the letters there.

As Alias says, Move the drive letters.
1st, free up the drive letter you want, by assigning a new, free
letter to E. Then, make your DVD drive E.
And finally move your 2nd drive to its new letter.

Are you sure you want to use an app that makes such a bizarre assumption.
(Unless of course the app was installed when the CD drive was called E:. If
this is the case you could search the registry for E: and change it in the
appropriate location.)
