| I've been using a 1200S SCSI scanner for many many years. It's worked very
| well in W98 and W2K. Your saying software but are you talking about The
| TWAIN driver or the managing software? The TWAIN driver for the 1200S is
| called Vista Scan. The document managing software that came with it is
| Presto Pagemanager. The driver can be used in any TWAIN compliant
| application.What's the problem?
|
| Windows(even XP) is notorious for problems with it's USB drivers and would
| be what I'd look at first. Sometimes just reinstalling them helps. Don't
| assume they don't have a problem because they don't show having any. If
it's a USB problem you may be in the same boat with another brand. Uninstall
all the scanner wares before reinstalling the USB driver. A lot of times the
| scanner drivers should be installed before plugging the scanner in. If
| instructions say otherwise follow it.
Vista Scan is one of the applications that loaded.
Did the uninstall/reinstall to the extent of reformatting the drive on one
of the Win98SE computers. It could be a hardware problem but since there
are a 4 A2000Us I tend to discount that probability as the people who
donated the hardware said all 4 were working on their W95/98 computers when
they were removed from service.
I tried the driver only install and the full bore all bells etc install as
well, no joy even with the scanner software the only application (other then
IE6 and the OS)
Posting seeking alternative software options is a last ditch
'see-if-this-can-be-made-to-work' effort.
FWIW USB ports have been working on all other applications without
difficulty.
Any chance there could be a problem with the various security updates from
MS?
