Need DL Help Please

First all, let me introduce myself. I'm Marty, a self professed lurker
from way back. I have read all of the posts on here but can't find a
solution to my problem. Which is DLing some types of freeware. I have
DLed Ad-Aware, Spybot. Spyware Blaster with no problem whatsoever. But
when I tried to dl CWShredder it went to a zipped folder??? How do I
unzip those? Same way when I tried to do Hijackthis, but it said I
needed to put it in a folder made specifically for it. How to I do that
and how do I tell it which folder to put it in? I'd really appreciate
some info or help anyone might give me. Thanks!

Yea, that's the crummy Windows XP ZIP implementation. Use a program like XP
Anti-Spy and turn it off. You can then open the downloaded file in your
favorite archive program. My favorite is IZArc, but 7Zip and others are fine
too.

Thanks for the speedy replies, but no, I don't have anything like that.
I never had this problem until I tried to dl Hijackthis and CWShredder.
Do I need something like those to open a zipped file or folder?

What are you talking about?

In XP simply RMB click on the zipped file, select 'extract all', and there
you are.

It's zipping files up in XP which needs another application.

I'm not sure if I understand you, but do you have WinZIP
or WinRAR or any other archiver ? You unzip all arcive files
(.zip .rar .ace ...) with them
