I am trying to restore a Ghost image, running under DOS
(Win98s vs) to to it's partition on a W2k system.
It won't go. something went wrong making a change in the
cluster size using Partition Magic 8.0. I can restore
that partition from a backup (before the cluster change)
but it is an old backup.
W2K, DOS, PM reported the imaged drive is no longer
formatted. But, when I ran a save image on it, you could
see it pulling down each file, so I know they are there.
I just need to find a way to get them back to their
original drive.
I want to try to restore the bad back up, running under
DOS to another W2K machine on the network and see if that
will work. Then I could go back to W2K and move the files
across.
The systems see each other fine in W2K. I can ping them
and get their TCP/IP address but neither sees each other
when one is in DOS (W98 DOS). I'm running through a
switch.
Can you direct me to info on how to temporarily setup my
network, so that there is connectivity between DOS and
W2K? I knew how to do this in NT4 to DOS, but am at a
loss for W2K to DOS.
Searching the KB hasn't helped. (I assume that my DOS
(W98)boot has to be made into a network boot? will that
do it? Let the systems see each other?
Can someone help with answers or direct me to KBs that
will help?
Thank you.
