Mindful

My photos and other color printouts have a bit too much magenta and I'm
experiementing with the drive options but the paper and ink costs will
put me in the poor house! I'm using matter heavyweight, printing with
PSP and have been tinkering with gamma and color management. Does anyone
have a good combination that works well? I didn't turn up much
definitive on Google.

Color management is a difficult issue. It is very possible that your monitor
is set at far too warm a temperature and that the printer is reflecting this
but your eye does not "see" how off your monitor is. If your monitor can be
set to 6800K that would be a start (if you are using an LCD you are out of
luck as the color gamut is not adequately adjustable). If you have Adobe PS
or Elements the gamma applet can also help to adjust the monitor. Ultimately
you may want to purchase a monitor calibration device like the Spyder. If
you have an image processing program that accepts plug-ins you may want to
invest in one of the color correcting plug-ins, such as Pictographics
iCorrect: they are not perfect but can adjust images to a reference
flesh/sky/grass tone that may help you understand where some of your
problems are.

Thx for your response. Difficult is an understatement! I've tinkered
with the Adobe gamma tool and played around with monitor gamma and color
management profiles, currently relying on sRGB. Unfortunately I am using
LCD for much of the work although on another PC my CRT/printer combo
gives me similar results. I'm relatively new at PSP and digital imaging
and can't yet justify calibration devices. I'm somewhat convinced by my
testing that the C80 driver adds too much warmth at certain settings, so
I'd be happy (for now) just to find a better recipe for the driver.

I've made an action for PS, that do the color correction for Epson C80. I'm
not sure how it works, because I have done many. Because it's a file and it
isn't permited to send it here, I send it in your email. If your email isn't
valid contact me.
