this computer is all new to me, and I don't know much
about them. After quite some time trying to figure out
the problem, I must turn to you.
I have a child who loves to play games, and listen to
music on the computer, however, the noise is getting to
me. Bottom line is... how do I install the headphones?
If I just plug them in, they don't work.
Would appreciate any assistance at all.

Thanks,

You will have to plug them into the Speaker Out jack from the sound, instead
ofthe standard speakers. Also, some sound cards have additional jacks which
would allow a set of headphones to be connected.

I also have seen a switch box which would allow your to switch between the
headphone or speakers.

Plug them in where the speaker plugs in, though the location may be
inconvenient, on the back of the PC. Radio Shack can provide an adapter
for the jack, if necessary. The jack on the PC is likely a stereo mini plug.
