I am running Windows 2000 pro and want to hook up a set
of altec lansing ADA-305 digital speakers. I have gone
to the Altec Lansing website and they tell me that this
system has software only good fro Win 98. Does anyone
have a download that will allow me to use these speakers

Well you could install Windows 98 if you really want to use those
speakers. If there were Windows 2000 drivers they would have been
produced by Altec lansing. You say they didn't make any, ergo they don't
exist.

According to a review site (google: "ADA-305") AL told one party they
didn't see the point in providing drivers for a "Corporate System." That
reviewer was a little grumpy about that, as he should be. Another
reviewer said that he didn't care about the software control package for
W2k, because once the boxes were electrically hooked up he could control
the speakers from the right-channel speaker. I have no idea whether
that's true or whether it'll help you out if it is.
