i have upgraded to xp from me and can not believe how
slow it is operating, i have a p4 2.6 gig builder that
should run atleast as fast as me (i believe ?)
and does anyone know if it slows xp down to have several
seprate user accounts ie 5 accounts verses 1 account?

the system does not crash, no errors, the only problem is
speed, for instance it will take 30 seconds for my
prievious brouser page to load once i hit the back button.
working within any application is just as slow, i have
tried defrag and the other tools to help speed things up
but i remain stumped.

any help (or advise) you might be able to steer my way is
welcomed
thanks Jeff

Check www.blackviper.com for XP tweaks.

Also, www.pcpitsop.com for on-line scan, it will detect any
obvious problems.

Did you do a clean install or the upgrade? You might
back-up your files and do a clean install.

Having multiple accounts will not slow down the system. Having multiple
accounts logged on simultaneously (fast user switching), could.

Check startup group for unwanted baggage and run defrag. A newly installed
XP runs a little slower than one that has been automatically optimized. The
optimization takes a few days to a week to occur.

Also stay on guard for spyware and other malware. Next to viruses, this
category is currently the biggest source of performance problems.
