In my place of work we have to fax two important orders a week - by 5pm on
Mondays and Wednesdays. If we forget we are unable to send that order at
all until the following week.

Occasionally someone forgets, so I'm wondering whether there is some
freeware alarm program which could put up a large or even full-screen
message on the computer screen every Monday and Wednesday around 4.30 to act
as a reminder which it would be difficult to miss. If it flashed that would
be even better!

If you use Moz, Firefox, or Thunderbird you could try Moz Calendar; if
not the standalone Sunbird. It can be configured to sound an alarm
and/or send you an email once your event is triggered.

My favorite is ClocX

It uses a small popup dialog, but it's pretty easy to notice. It can also
use sounds to get your attention. It's very easy to configure and set up new
alarms and reminders.

If you want an Alarm/Reminder that can't be ignored then Task Prompt might
be what your looking for. The audible alarm will not stop until it is
physically acknowledged.

TaskPrompt

Complete all your daily and scheduled tasks on time.

TaskPrompt is a task reminder utility. You can add tasks and categorize
them. Set the task's occurrence to Immediate, Todo, Minutes, Hourly, Hours,
Daily, Days, Weekly, Weeks, Monthly, Months, Yearly, Years or Scheduled
according to when the task should re-occur.

Tasks that have a date and time set to Minutes, Hourly, Hours, Daily, Days,
Weekly, Weeks, Monthly, Months, Yearly, Years or Scheduled will prompt you
with a popup scroll window above your system time on the Taskbar to notify
you that the task needs immediate attention.

Use the Todo occurrence to add tasks to a task category for all those
things that you need to do or review at a later date and time. This list
can be printed or viewed.

Use the Immediate occurrence to add tasks for very important tasks or
things that you would to attent to immediately today.

Display notes or your favorite quotes and affirmations at scheduled times!

Use the calendar to view color coded day events for a specific month.

Create yearly tasks to remind you to call a friend on their birthday or
anniversary.

TaskPrompt is so simple, practical and easy to use. Once you start using it
and see how extremely efficient and effective it is, you'll wonder how you
managed all your tasks without it!

TaskPrompt
Thanks to everyone who took the time to give me suggestions.

So far I think TaskPrompt is most suited for what I need as its pop up
window can be resized to fill the whole screen and would be very difficult
to miss.

I use Karen`s CountDown Timer
http://www.karenware.com/powertools/ptcount2.asp

Will run any program when the time is up, so you could have it set to
run wordpad or word etc, in full screen with your reminder in very
large letters!

Bye for now.

Clive.

Kana Reminder is my favorite:

Download here:
http://www.kana.homeip.net/downcount.php?file=Reminder2&site=main

Ignore the "Beta" title. I've been using version 2 for well over a year
and it's perfectly stable, reliable and lightweight. Add this to the
bottom of the Reminder.ini file to change the default clipboard icon in
the system tray to the day of the month. The number will be blue if you
have no reminders set for that day and red if you have pending reminders
for that day. Pop-up reminders with alarm sound and lots of great features.

I've gotten a lot of people hooked on it.

Chaos Manager

Overview :

As a computer is supposed to be a helpful tool the author always wanted
to organize some of his mess on the computer. But he really disliked
that if he wanted a phonebook, an appointment manager, a calendar and a
notepad, he would have to install these 5-20mb programs which for once
costs a fortune, second they're usually slow to startup and takes too
long to learn, and have like hundred of buttons/options you never
really use. So he decided to code his own little simple application
which ended up like this. He also added the option to customize your
own color for the application so it won't be so dull to look at. Try it
out, you might like it and you might not, anyway it's freeware. As long
as you don't use it in any kind of commercial/business like way.
Features: Appointment manager, plays a random wav-file when appointment
has reached it's deadline. Phonebook/adresse book. Build in notepad
that supports multiple topics. Calendar. Optional password protection.
Standby mode (in system-tray or a small window). Optional data
encryption so no one can peak into the data files. Simple and easy to
use. Daily/weekly appointments. Customize program colors. Skinable
(limited). 32bit code which means Win95/98/W2K/NT40/XP.
