Need advice on my "old" Outlook Express Mail

About two months ago I "upgraded" from Outlook Express to Outlook 2003 and I
love it! So I no longer use Outlook Express foir my emaling.

The question is this: I still use my Outlook Express to access Newsgroups.
But I just noticed that all of my email (up to the date when I upgraded) is
still in the Outlook Express "Inbox, Sent Mail and Deleted" folders.

Is it SAFE to delete (Control-A and then Shift-Delete) all of those emails
or will this also delete the copies of them inside the Outlook 2003? I
need those emails and I see all of them in my Outlook 2003 (as they were
imported during the upgraded) but I want to make sure that they will still
remain in my Outlook 2003 folders if I kill them in Outlook Express.

Thanks!

Outlook uses .PST files to store messages, while Outlook Express uses .DBX
files for each folder...so there's no way your messages could be shared
between the two if all have been downloaded locally, as with a POP3 mail
account. If you're using an IMAP server, though, and the messages are
stored on the server and you're just viewing them through Outlook and OE,
it's possible they could be deleted from both. Are you using POP3 or are
you using server-based mail?
