I am using Microsoft fax and I want to add
many fax numbers to a phone list.

Which is the best phone list to use, because
I never use Microsoft Outlook (just Outlook
Express).

Please help, Frank

Assuming you mean Windows XP Fax, the choice is not yours to make. If you do
not have Outlook installed, XP Fax will use the Windows Address Book. If you
do, it will use Outlook.

Thanks. When I use the fax Wizard I get to a
stage with two options in the drop-down box
that is "new contact" and "new distribution
list". I have been using "new contact" so
far but I want to be sure before typing in
100 or so numbers.

Regards, Frank

Perhaps you could share with us which address book you are using. It would
sure help to know that.

I WAS using the one that came with the HP3100
printer/fax/scan machine, but as usual this
was corrupted and now gone for ever. I have
therefore disconnected the computer link to
this device and now use it solely for
receiving faxes. And now I use an OKI
machine for printing.

In Outlook Express I have an email list in
the "Address Book" but this is just for
emails addresses.

In short I am using the Microsoft Fax via a
Swann V90 plug-in modem to avoid the constant
problems I had with the HP3100.

So now I need to know the appropriate Address
Book type to use with the Microsoft Fax.

Did you read my first reply?
Use which ever you want. They both work the same. The decision should be
based upon which address book you need as the default for your operating
system. Most people who install Outlook want to use its address book since
Outlook is where they store their contacts. That's why the OS defaults
address book functions to Outlook when you install it. You can change it
back to the WAB if for some reason you installed Outlook without intending
to use it.

You sure are.
Outlook Express and Outlook are two completely different programs that are
in no way related. WAB is the Windows Address Book which is the address book
used by Outlook Express.
You need to clarify which of these programs you have installed and which you
intend to use. Read the primers here:

I cannot help you further. I'll be gone for 10 days. Hal or Earl can help

Breaking news...........

I have been looking at replies to your more
favoured questioners and one of these answers
mine, I think.

I went to Control Panel, then Internet
Options and then made "Outlook Express" the
default service.

I should have thought of it before!

Well then all you need to do is set your operating system to use the Windows
"Address Book" as is Contact Manager in Control Panel > Internet Options >
Programs.
