is there a way to kill the dumb "if you change a file name extension, ..."
warning (when renaming extensions) for good? there's gotta be some value in
the registry that i could edit to get rid of this annoying pop-up. pls help.

no, no, no David (thanks for your reply) - i do need to change file
extensions once in a while - i just want windows to do that "silently",
without the pop-up requiring confirmation. is that possible?

Command Prompt.
"rename" or "ren".
Or some third party application.

I know of no way to turn this off because I don't know of anyone that
changes that many file extensions without using some mass-changing utility
or command prompt script. =)

i usually need to rename one or two file extensions once in a few hours.
using a renamer (which i have on this machine) just for that doesn't make
much sense. command prompt... or answering windows' pop-up question each time
i do that are also quite equally inconvenient. i think MS should come up with
some simple option to disable this behavior in explorer.

Unfortunately for you then, it seems you are stuck. =(

Just try to get into the habit of hitting Enter twice when you rename an
extension, just like I got so used to hitting Shift-Del to delete a file
that I now can't stop doing it even when I try. :-p
