Need a Patch

Help....my computer when it logs on and off shows the logon prompt screen with a black background instead of the welcome screen...what do I do? I asked for support from Microsoft, that didn't help and I asked help from Gateway. I cannot find the help I need or a patch for this. Does someone know what I can do for this? Microsoft says to wait for a new update but there isn't one yet....need some real advice here. Thanks lots!
 
Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > User Accounts.
Click on "Change the way users log on or off" and place
a check next to "Use the Welcome screen".

This actually did not help. I think that some kind of Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack was installed on my computer and it had some fancy logon thing with it or something. Because I did what you said and that didn't help at all. I don't know what to do and would like to see the Welcome Screen back. Can you help me any further? P.s. Would doing a System Restore make any difference or help?

Okay so I have waited around for an answer but there was none. I really need to solve this problem. Any advice from you or anyone else would be great. I just don't know why this computer has changed the logon screen. I want the welcome blue screen back but even when I change the way users log on, it doesn't work. Need help. Sorry to be so begging, but would like this problem solved.
 
Start/Run
Type "control userpasswords2" ENTER
Click Advanced tab
Uncheck "Require users to press..."
Click OK and follow prompts.
