I have a very long URL for a website that needs to be inserted as a
reference on one of my pages. It is so long it could not wrap properly and
so pushes the right margin 'way out of range. For an alternate fix, I just
typed "URL for this reference" - selected it and used the hyperlink tool
which took me right to the page. After I returned to my web I got a message,
"There is no editor configured for DO files. Do you want to save
http://find.blah.do to a file?

Not sure I want to say yes, because I don't know what that means. Can
someone explain this to me? I don't work on the HTML page, so can't think of
a way to do this.
When I pass my cursor over "URL for this document" the status bar shows the
very long URL. Will it work, then, after I publish?

http://find.blah.do is an invalid URL
Post the link you actually have in you page from code view
Should like
<a href=".....">URL for this reference </a>

Thank you, Stephan. I did a little investigating last night and finally
found out a lot.
First, yes, it is an invalid URL, in fact it is a shortcut to a private
database within a private institution, whose subscribers must be
authenticated with a user name and a password to get access to the data
base. A client sent a paper to be posted via my website which included
several referenced footnotes which showed really sufficient documentation
for his sources, but he sent along the URLs and I had not understood these
were private databases.

There were, in fact six instances of this type of URLs. I say that they are
shortcuts, because when used, a three-line URL becomes a 7-line URL which
gets me to the website. This is when I found you must be inside the
institution, not any stranger, to get the access. So I eliminated the URLs
today meaning my problem is over.
Thanks.
