Need 1.1 and 2?

I am only using dotnet for apps that we installed that need it. This is a
dumb question but do we need both 1.1 and 2 or will just 2 do for our simple
need? Sorry to be so stupid about it but never can't find an answer on the
net. Thank you.

2.0 isn't really a replacement for 1.1, they are designed to work
installed side by side. So unless you're short on disk space or
something I would keep both versions. That said, most applications
written for 1.1 should work fine on 2.0 so if you have to remove
something, uninstall the older version and make sure you test all apps
on 2.0.
