necessary steps to upgrade

I am currently running on XP Proffessional and want to upgrade to service
pack 2.
current os will not verify. I have a purchased XP office w/sp2. how do I
install XP Office overthe XP Pro so i will be able to download sp2 and any
future updates?

XP Office is an add on and will not overwrite XP Pro.
The SP2 for XP Office is just that an update for the office suite not to be
confused with SP2 for XP.

Not sure that I am understanding your problem?

XP Office and Windows XP Professional are completely different. Office XP has nothing to do with upgrading Windows XP to SP2. Give us some details about what happens when you try to validate XP Pro. Did your version of XP Pro come pre-installed on the computer or did you purchase a retail copy from a store?
