I recently scored a 1800N from a company "giveaway" of old computer
hardware. (Without software CD, of course...)
Anyway, according to the NEC 1800N "Network User's Guide" (PDF from
NEC's site), in order to get the printer to work in Windows
(specifically Win2k), I need to create a port of type "NEC Network
Printer Port".
Unfortunately, I find myself without that as an option from the "Add
Port" dialog. (It only offers "Local Port" and "Standard TCP/IP
Port".) The latter of those ends up giving PCL6 errors on the printer
when trying to print to it.
Anyone have any idea where I could find the correct "port driver" that
would add the "NEC Network Printer Port" as an option on my system?
(I vaguely remember having to install something on my work computer
some years ago, back when I used Windows.) I've looked on NEC's site,
and they have drivers for the printer, but I couldn't find any mention
of the "NEC Network Printer Port".
Thanks in advance.
