Hey my NEC floppy Drive is staying on all the time.....

Any suggestions How to Fix this...... it is also not accessible either.....

Can I correct this or is the Drive Shot????
I have a 1800+ AMD Athlon and 133Mhz DDR ram and a K7S5A MB version. 3.1

Is there a Bios Update to Correct this problem or is it a Bad Floppy
Drive????

AND DONT TELL ME IT IS I JUST BAUGHT THE THING.......

You connected the cable the wrong way around.

Make sure the RED wire is connected to the side marked "1."

Reverced cable now it will not work..... is this Because the Cable has a
Crossed Cable?
the Cable Came this way......

Howdy!

Seen that before. The drive is now fried from the signal cable
being on upside down ...

The crossed section ("twist") is supposed to be there.

The floppy drive must be connected to the data cable AFTER the twist:

MB --------X---FDD

Where MB is the motherboard, FDD is the floppy drive and the "X' denotes
the twist.

Pin 1 on the data cable must be connected to pin 1 on the FDD. The pin 1
side of the cable has a colored stripe; the pin 1 side on the FDD should be
marked. Look for a "1" embossed on the back of the drive, and/or take a
look at the PCB near the data connector.

If your drive still doesn't work, it may have been damaged during
installation. Look at it as a learning experience.

Followups set.

You probably plugged the signal cable in upside-down.

I have plugged in drives many times with the signal cable wrong and never
fried them. One side is all gound and the other side is the signal . If
you turn the cable upside down all you do is gound the signal wires from the
computer. Should not harm anything.

Now if the smaller power cable is reversed , a lot of dammage may hapen.
