I have windows small biz server set up on a server in a
small network (3 static ips one for the server two for
workstations), the server has DNS and active directory on
it with exchange and SQL server, 1 web site broadcasts to
the internet 2 email addresses are active. The problem is
when i boot up the server everyting is fine for a couple
of hours then the network gets slamed and nothing can get
out past the router. I can ping the workstations and the
gateway form the server, I can ping the gateway form
outside the network!
Any ideas?

Sounds like the SQL slammer or some other DDOS attack. Is the SQL server
published through the router? Make sure you have the latest patches
installed on it.

yes SBS 2000, 1 nic on the server, its a domain name host
2 workstations use it as the DNS server one web site on it
at the moment no datebases in SQL yet, it was ok today for
a bout 6 hours then it just gets slamed and all network
conections are jammed, the only network service on it at
the moment is DNS and tcp ip, i have to reboot to restore
everything back to normal, when i think back it started
just after i installed SQL server, can sql do this?

Is the server fully patched, especially the ms03-026?
Does DNS on your nic point to your server-IP?
