...What is it and how do I get rid of it?

I am using Windows XP Home Edition with MS Outlook for
email. Recently, when i send an email message to someone,
the recipient will write back to me and ask "what is
  in your email message? Apparently it is appearing
throughout the message, however, when I type it to send,
it is not apparent in my original composition of the
email. Is this a worm or virus? How can I prevent this
from happening?
