My icons have lost the ability to actually open up my email, calendar,
contacts and tasks. If I choose open up in a new window via right click, it
works just fine, but seems to have lost is link to that actual locations.
Here is what I tried to do to fix it.

Removed ECCT (email, calendar, contacts and tasks) from the navigation pane
and re-added them. No luck.

I am connected to an exchange server, so I am sure that if I create a new
pst, if that will fix it. Any clues?

version of outlook?

If 2003, which module did you remove the shortcuts from?

Using a pst with exchange is bad and probably won't help. Delete the *.xml
file for your profile (or *.fav if it's not outlook 2003 - it's called the
outlook bar, not Navigation pane in that version). you'll find them at
C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook.
