I am a medical transcriptionist and recently switched from
Wordperfect to Word 2003. I type the same thing over and
over again. I have "normals" saved to save time but need
to be able to navigate faster. How do I create one simple
keystroke to skip to a certain symbol? For example: "The
patient is a \-year-old \female. Weight \, height \."
How can I create one simple one simple keystroke to skip
to each backslash? Find and replace and go to take too
long with too many steps. Please help. :) tia

Forget how you did it in Word Perfect
In your standard text, insert a macrobutton field {MACROBUTTON NoMacro /}
in place of the /. This will display a slash in yor document (you can use
any text in place of the slash as it is only a prompt) then F11 will move
between the fields. You can save all your default text, including the fields
as an autotext entry (or autocorrect) for ease of insertion - though if the
documents are all laid out with the same standard text in the same places,
you could create a template.
See http://www.gmayor.com/Macrobutton.htm for more on the field.
You should find http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/FillinTheBlanks.htm
useful also.
