I will be passing through London on my way to Amsterdam for work. Anyone have any advice for properly navigating Heathrow for connecting flights. I would like to try to minimize the possibility of missing my flight.

I look forward to the few minutes I will be there in any case.

Do you know which terminal you're flying to? It's pretty easy to navigate, but it depends on the connecting terminal that you're in - are you flying with the same airline from the US > UK > AMS - if so you'll probably find that the arrival and departure gates are very close to eachother :).

Amsterdam is a fun city - are you there for long? :) If you get a chance, try some Indonesian food over there - it's really fantastic! Probably my favourite cuisine, but I've not found an Indonesian place in Manchester.

I will be there for about a week. That is the scheduled time. Going over to the Boat Yard to complete a new build commissioning. Should be fun.

Supposed to fly BA from here all the way there. So based on what you say, I would expect that the gates are fairly close together.

I get my flight details this evening, I believe.

Heathrow is really very easy to navigate, I've never had a prob. Enjoy your Amsterdam visit, home of bicycles, canals, cafe's that allow naughty 'erb smoking and some good vibes.

Your stay in the UK may even be shorter than Elvis's by the sound of it :D

Sweet. I was really hoping that it wouldn't be like going through Atlanta, GA airport. There is a tram and the terminals are very spread out. Connection times were very tight, usually. Plus, I think I have about 2 hours time before landing and take off.

2 hours should be fine :). You'll probably find that both connections are in Terminal 5, so it's only a short walk - although there's a chance that one of them could be in Terminal 3.

You can look up the exact details with your flight numbers on this site and it should give you the terminal information:

Pity it's not Gatwick.:(
T5 is really good and if it's BA all the way then it should be easy.:thumb:

Sitting here waiting for a connecting flight to Amsterdam. This place was easier than anticipated. We Americans make it very difficult to get thru security. BA all the way.
