Dear all

I am not sure whether I am posting in the right 'section' but here goes:

When my NAV scans it somes up with approx 27 files which it says I should delete. However, when I ask the programme to do this it says that I need to go through each one individually to action. When I try to do that I am totally baffled as to what I should actually do. This has been going on for some weeks now.

So, the question is:

Do I just leave things as they are or do I need to take some more assertive action? Everything seemed to be OK until today when I charged up the PC and it told me that I was not protected. I clicked the required buttons and seems OK.

Any thoughts?

Right click on each of those 27 files and see what options it gives you. It will probably be something like 'delete' or 'move to AV vault'.

Alternatively, highlight each one individually and use NAV's drop down menus for options.

If you received a message saying you're unprotected, it does sound like maybe you have some nasties on there.

And, of course, update your virus definitions online from Symantec/Nortons.

dont want to hijack this thread but i've had a similar thing where my norton firewall hasn't enabled when i boot up, its only happened a couple of times but i cant find any viruses or anything using online scans and NAV, could it just be a bug or something nasty?

Me__2001, I really do hope it’s just Norton "playing up", although I'm a staunch follower of Norton, I to have had my fair share of problems with it.

It's always worth a "second opinion" and use http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ to double check. However, we still need the likes of Ad-Aware and such for the other little nasties that AV programs are not geared up to respond too.

There are new "nasties" appearing every week, we have to keep on our toes.

:(

That's good ... not wishing to hijack gabriella's thread, but give my new finding Spy Sweeper (in my sig') a go ... it may surprise you. ;)
