Hi,

I'm setting up a new computer for a friend, A Dell 3100 desktop with
WinXP Home. It came with Norton security suite and NAV 2005
installed. She prefers Avast for AV and ZoneAlarm for a firewall.
They both complain about conflicts when I try to install them.

I haven't found a way to do it, so how do I disable the Norton stuff?
I would rather not uninstall the Norton stuff but if that's the only
way ...

TIA for any advice.

Why not uninstall the norton's? Obviously, you don't want both running
concurrently, and surely the Dell came with the installation CDs for it
if she changes her mind -- but I doubt she will.

Thanks, that's what I ended up doing. I had hoped to leave Norton
comatose so she could wake it up if she wanted to but I suppose that
she could reinstall it.
