NAV 2005 slower and slower

Installed antivirus 2005.
Started a full system scan of my 3 partitions.
fisrt it starts fast enough, but after some time it slows down to near
zero, while the disk is working very hard.

Any help for this ?
What is the cause ?

Temp files cleaned out?
Other programs running?
Operating System ?
Cpu speed?
Amt of Ram?

Uninstall Norton, install NOD32.

Temp files cleaned out?

no, but the slowness started, AFTER the C drive with the temp stuff
was scanned...

Other programs running?

no: had it working in the night.. no relevant software running

norton 204 worked well for me...
curious why it happens
It happened with 2004 too, but not recently anymore... I think I
somehow had 2004 fixed, but now, with 2005 it starts over again...

I was happy with 2004... so maybe i will have to go back.
still curious...
I always want the latest of the latest scanner... and a good update
service...
