NAV 2002 disappears after being open for 30 secs

I have NAV & Internet security 2002 installed on my home PC running
Windows XP Home Edition. Yesterday I noticed a problem when I tried to
scan my hard drives. NAV attempts to run but closes within 30 secs of
my running the NAV software. This happens regardless of the task I try
to carry out, in fact if I just open the SW it will disappear off the
screen within 30 secs of me opening it! NAV site won't open the link
to check the system remotely. Also the overview page on NAV states
that auto protect is not enabled, when i try to enable it the SW
disappears, very frustrating!!
