Lately I have been unable to get the NAV 2002 automatic live updates.
Instead, I have had to do them manually.

Recently I installed the free Zone Alarm. In addition, I switched my
browser to Firefox. As far as I can tell, I have the Norton configured in ZA
with four green checks all the way across, enabling access. However,
yesterday, while surfing with Internet Explorer, I did get the live updates
automatically, a rare occurrence.

Does anyone have any explanation for this? I was unable to get any
assistance from the Symantec website.

Also, would I be better off using the latest NAV 2005 software? Or is an
updated 2002 version just as safe?

Thank you.

Symantec no longer supports NAV 2002. I would suggest
upgrading to NAV 2005 which is fully compatible with SP2.
NAV 2002 may occasionally work, but do really want to risk not
having up-to-date virus definitions?
Visit: http://www.symantec.com/nav/nav_9xnt/ for more info.

Unfortunately I have exactly the same problem after using NAV 2005, which in
fact seems to happen frequently, symantec site provided no help. Re-doing the
Virusdefs folder in shared files ba Intelligemnt updater didn't help.
Is it a problem of the XP SP2 firewall or of internet settings ??
