I was just wondering if anybody could tell me the
ramifications of changing to AD native mode in regards to
older clients such as NT and 98 if any.

The change to native mode should only cause issues if you still have any
remaining NT4 BDCs on your network, since they will no longer be able to
replicate with the 2000 DCs. My downlevel NT clients didn't notice the
difference when I made the switch. I've heard anecdotally that 95/98
clients get a little cranky, but that said crankiness is resolved by
installing the Active Directory Client extensions.

Absolutely none!

Native Mode or Mixed Mode ( those are the two choices in WIN2000 ) has
absolutely nothing to do with anything except the following two things:

Group Nesting
Functioning WINNT 4.0 Backup Domain Controllers ( BDCs )

In Mixed Mode you do not have them and in Native Mode you do! Okay, this is
a bit simplified but essentially that is it ( and you can have Universal
Security Groups in Native Mode.... ).

The point is, that the 'mode' affects only the Domain Controllers,
essentially!

HTH,

Cary
