narrow screen

My browser only uses about half of my screen -- the left
side -- to display a web page. I can't figure out how to
get it to spread fully across the width of the screen.

If your display is set to more than 800 x 600, you are falling victim of the
recent trend to write pages specifically for 800 x 600 displays so that you
will see exactly what the author intended.

IMHO it is bad coding, indicating that the author is more interested in
appearance than content.
