narration sync MM1

I recorded a narration audio file to go along with a 21-slide still photo movie in MM1. The audio track plays normally on its own, and when pulled into the timeline, the start and end points line up with the first and last slides. However, when I play the entire timeline, the audio plays at 2X normal speed and finishes halfway through the slides. Why is it doing this, and how can I fix it?
