Hello,

How do I fully enable an automatic name check?
For example if I want to send an email to Donald Lam, the
full email address is dlam@......,When I type dlam under
the To: box and I move next and the proper address
displays, however when I just type Donald, the address is
not found. On other user computers I could just type
Donald and the proper address is assigned.
What setting should I change on my computer?

Thanks advance?

Dorota

is the name being resolved when you use Check Names? In a new message type
Donald and then Tools-> Check Names.

What version of Outlook are you using?

We are using Outlook 2000, when I manually click on Check
Names for example Donald, I will get all the Donalds in
the company to choose from.

Is this helpfull?

Thanks

No it works on others computers fine as I said, when I
type Donald It shows all of the Donalds and I can pick the
one I need. Only it want find on mine, even when I use a
name that is the only one in the company.

alright. check this setting; tools-> options-> tab Preferences-> button
E-mail Options-> button Advanced E-mail Options.
make sure the following is selected;
-Automatic name checking
-Suggest names while completing To, Cc, and Bcc fields

if this doesn't help either try deleting your local cache of resolved names
D:\Documents and Settings\%username%\APPLICATION
DATA\Microsoft\Outlook\profilename.nk2

Keep me posted!

Hello,

I went to the settings section and I don't have an option
to 'Suggest names while completing To, Cc, and Bcc fields'
The option for automatic name checking is checked.
I am running Outlook 2000 with SP3.
Dorota

ok, that option is for Office XP/2003 then -> I'm spoiled :-D

it's getting harder and harder to help you :-S

have you tried delting the nk2 file?

also you could try recreating the Outlook profile (configurationscreen->
mail-> show profiles).

you said it worked on someone elses computer; was this under you account
name and if so are you using roaming profiles?
